Polly in tree
This photo of Polly was taken at a lovely family gathering on Sunday 29th March

Polly Kitzinger was critically injured in a car accident on 30th March 2009
Her condition in February 2010 is stable

Her diffuse brain injuries remain the major cause for concern ("severe diffuse axonal injury").

Polly remains in hospital. She is breathing for herself and coughing - she does not need extra oxygen. Her rib and clavicle injuries from the crash have healed.

On August 20th she had an operation to fit a gastric rig so she can be fed directly into her stomach - removing the nasal feed tube has made her more comfortable. On September 9th she had her tracheotomy removed.

She is now showing signs of some awareness and this is allowing her brain injuries to be more accurately assessed. She can indicate ‘yes’ and ‘no’ to simple questions which is helping to make her comfortable.

On November 19th she was moved to a rehabilitation hospital. Now we are looking forward to her getting a full assessment and more appropriate care. She is in a wheelchair for several hours a day so we can take her take her out of the ward.

We aim to update this web page if, and when, there is any change.
The hospital can not give out information to callers. Those closest to Polly are visiting her and supporting each other. We thank the many friends who have offered help, and are comforted by the many messages of support.

Thank you for all the messages -
'It just feels like a waterfall of love for Polly'
